Ruth Asawa & William Albert Lanier

Ruth Asawa and her husband met while attending BMC and the two married in 1949. While Lanier worked as an architect, Ruth had just begun exploring 3D  metal work at the college. The two used their areas of focus to bring art to their community. Using his architectural skills, Lanier often designed the spaces that would hold Asawa’s public work. Together the two later went on to establish the San Francisco’s School of the Arts.
