Alexander Reed
Collaborations and Connections
Alexander Reed attended BMC from 1940-1942 as both student and teacher. Reed preferred to work in painting, collage, and fibers. Through his work, Reed sought to combine unusual objects such as kitchen appliances and organic materials. While at BMC, the artist took part in several collaborative projects, such as a work of jewelry that combined found objects with peer Anni Albers. The two have no other collaborations on record and many attribute this to Reed’s death in 1964.
